I am a mixed media artist that was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas but now reside in Virginia. I grew up in a very creative home with my father who had a love for photography and my mother who had an eye for interior design, enjoyed painting, ceramics, and floral arranging all which rubbed off on me through the years. In the early 2000's I was introduced to mixed media art. The freedom to use a mix of multiple painting mediums, textiles, and paper all in one piece of art took my creativity to another level. My love of abstract painting began a few years ago when I had the privilege of caring for my father who had started showing early signs of dementia. As things progressed it was paramount to me to find new ways to connect with him differently. It was in our shared loved of music and painting together that I found it. Even after my father lost his ability to speak we continued to paint and listen to music together every day. It was interesting to me that over the course of time his paintings became more abstract in nature and he had began using brighter colors. After his passing I framed and hung all his art in my home. These paintings served as not only a reminder of happy memories I shared with my father but became a tremendous source of inspiration and comfort as I began my healing journey from the loss of now both parents. It was my father's art that became the catalyst in discovering my own unique form of creative expression and making me the artist I am today. I believe this is one of the last gifts he passed to me. Today I aspire to continue to create art that will not only commemorate my Father, but that demonstrates the power it possesses to bring about healing, connection, hope, and inspiration to others.
